The small intestine is the longest part of the digestive system. If it were stretched out, it would be 21 feet long. The small inestine breaks down food from the stomach for the nutrients in the foods. The small intestine also brings the waste in foods to the large intestine for removal. The small intestine has these scissor like things call enzymes. They act as scissors to cut large nutrient chains into smaller nutrient chains. The small intestine takes the food from the stomach, breaks down the food for its nutrients and the waste goes to the large intestine to be removed.
